I’m terrible at blogging. I’ve tried three or four times to start posting regularly because I thought it would be good way to share my thoughts, experiences, and questions with friends and family. Nevertheless (one of my favorite words), I never blog for very many days before forgetting to write any more…just stopping without even thinking about it…or occasionally thinking, “Hmm, I suppose I should write a blog post sometime soon. Oh well, I’ll do it tomorrow. Or the next day. Or maybe next week.”
However, a couple of Sunday evenings from now, the group of college students and young adults with whom I minister is beginning a series of discussions about Christian spiritual disciplines, and the first one on our list is journaling. I hadn’t ever thought of journaling as a spiritual discipline. Anyway, we’re challenging ourselves to journal through this experience of discussing thirteen spiritual practices–to record our reflections, questions, concerns, ambitions, etc.
Thus, I decided that I should participate in this reflective practice and share my thoughts (or at least some of them) with other people who might somehow be interested in my babblings. This should help me get back into blogging. For the next several weeks, you should see at least thirteen posts here which I will give titles similar to this one. (CSD stands for Christian spiritual discipline.) Who knows–maybe I will write more than just those.
Brace yourself. I don’t even know what I will write about some of the spiritual disciplines. Whatever comes out of my fingertips and into cyberspace, I pray that it will glorify God, the original communicator.

Just know that you’ll have at least one regular reader.
Thanks, brother!
