I grew up hearing Garth Brooks “thank God for unanswered prayers,” but maybe God answers all prayers. Sometimes the answer is affirmative; at other times it’s negative. Once in a while, the answer might be “Enough already!”
That’s the case in today’s reading. Moses asks God yet again to let him journey with his people into their “Promised Land,” and God has heard the request enough. The final divine reply on the matter is clear: “That is enough… Do not speak to me anymore about this matter.”
Does God ever get tired of hearing our prayers? Are some requests more irritating to God than others are? How does your answer affect how you pray?
