“Because of the LORD’s eternal love for Israel, he has made you king to maintain justice and righteousness” (Queen of Sheba to King Solomon, 1 Kings 10:9).
Solomon’s wisdom and relationship with God amaze the visiting monarch and fuel his leadership, which is so excellent that his people follow happily; and the purpose of his leadership position is “to maintain justice and righteousness.”
The characteristics and purpose of Solomon’s leadership as a king in ancient Israel apply to various leadership roles today. Whether you lead in your government, business, community, church, school, or family, and whether you lead “in the spotlight” or “behind the scenes,” I pray you will constantly invite God to feed your influence through wisdom and spirituality (relationship with God). And I pray that you’ll remember this purpose of all leadership: “to maintain justice and righteousness” among the people you serve.
